Established in 1985, Cyril Jackson Senior Campus Education Support Centre (CJSC ESC) is a progressive school facility that caters for students with disabilities from Years 10 to 13. Located in the Perth suburb of Bassendean we are a 5-minute walk from Ashfield Train Station. Our close proximity to the railway line facilitates independent travel and students commute daily from local suburbs. The school shares a site with Cyril Jackson Senior Campus, which enrols compulsory schooling and mature age students. The two schools maximise student learning opportunities by sharing facilities, resources and integrated learning programs.
A range of career and community focused SCSA courses, endorsed programs and Vocational Education and Training (VET) certificate courses are offered to develop student independence and confidence in preparation for a successful transition beyond school. Student centred planning and a rigorous transition process guides individual learning and pathway options which are complemented by tailored work experience placements. Formal accreditation for learning is embedded across the schools’ programs with progress reflected in students’ individual transition plans (ITP), reports and the WASSA (Western Australian Statement of Student Achievement).
Alongside academic study, we deliver programs which focus on Mindfulness and Self-regulation including Rock & Water, Yoga, DRUMBEAT and Music. We develop students understanding of work by facilitating real life work opportunities in our onsite Bean@bility café and Bike@bilty workshops. Our tailored health and sport program ensures our students are explicitly taught how to be healthy young adults. We also have a well-established Student Services team, an experienced School Psychologist and an Education Support Officer. Our parent support group, Support@bility offers parents the opportunity to request guest speakers to come into school to share pertinent information to ensure they are equipped to make informed decisions around their child’s successful transition from school.
Parent feedback after Graduation Assembly....”Please let staff know how much we appreciate everything they have done and what an emotional and inspirational graduation they put together for the kids. What an advertisement for the school and for inclusivity as a wider community. The acceptance, support celebration of strengths and compassion of the staff and students is a wonderful example of what CAN be achieved. Well Done everyone. Looking forward to another successful year.....”
