For Sorry Day this year, students were invited to analyse poems, books and other literature written by Aboriginal and Torres Strait authors over the course of four lessons.
Students explored the meaning of country, the importance it has for indigenous people and the effect removing people from country had (and still continues to have).
As a centre, students were asked to create a poem or poster to express the things they learned that resonated the most within them.
We then presented our poems to each other, and they are now on display in the REC room. We look forward to continuing our centre’s ongoing reconciliation journey through meaningful learning sequences like this.
